Legends around the „Eyrain Special“
What’s that?
Some of you will now it, the welcome-drink and house cocktail of ComTeam. The drink is not yet on any list of drinks in a cocktail bar, but its appeal is great and lies not only in the taste but also in the simplicity of the mixture. This is the recipe for an “Eyrain Special”: Take a whiskey glass or a prosecco glass and add 1/3 Campari, 1/3 Sparkling Wine or Prosecco and 1/3 Orange juice.
How did this drink come about?
One thing is quite sure: The “Eyrain Special” was invented more than 30 years ago. At that time, the ComTeam seminars were held in Eyrain, a village in Upper Bavaria, about 20 km from the Tegernsee. The seminar room was in a renovated threshing floor of an old farm house and people liked to sit together until late at night.
One day in these days, the seminar participants were sitting around a cozy fire place talking and everybody really had fun. The evening was already late, the people were in a light mood, and it was quite dark outside. And: there was only one bottle of sparkling wine left!
‘Dark’ does not only mean it was already after sunset, it also means the people in this area used to go to bed quite early and probably will do so even now. No gas station around with its usual small market and nobody else in the surrounding who might have sold some bottles…
Anyway: Someone - and it was definitely not possible to find out who it was - had the idea of having a look what else could be found. And what were found were one bottle of Campari, and many bottles of orange juice. And then with a quite creative mind shift our house cocktail was borne and is still very much alive even today.

Others say it was not that dramatic and speculative and had happened like this: People were standing around and talking (so far there is agreement) and some were drinking Campari-Orange. It was summer, still quite warm and there was a lively discussion about the topics of the seminar. All this enhanced the inner heat and someone thought a Campari-Orange would taste even more fruity and refreshing with a little bit of sparkling wine. Said and done and the “Eyrain-Special” was borne.
Only the wood worms in the threshing floor know what really happened and some of the people who were present then… But we definitely know: The “Eyrain Special” is as tasty now as it was then and we make sure that we will not run out of sparkling wine and Prosecco so easily.
