ComTeam (Switzerland): Read more about ComTeam’s first subsidiary

Marco, before you took over the responsibility for ComTeam (Switzerland) you had cooperate with ComTeam for many years? How does a Swiss end up at ComTeam?
In 1990 I was looking for training in systemic change management. I did not want to attend the same Swiss institute where all my colleagues had gone. Out of the three or four options I chose ComTeam. As it turned out: It was a decision with long-term consequences.
You have long-term experience in leading intercultural teams. How does this experience influence your work as trainer for leaders?
I think in many ways. To mention one: The way I look at inherent necessities, the things which seem and sometimes are unchangeable. A leader is usually tied into a system of – often contradicting – expectations and objectives. We tend to accept them right away as given facts of life. I strongly believe that a leader has the obligation to challenge such boundaries, to recognize and use freedom and sometimes to find leeway. As a trainer I encourage participants to take a critical look at their boundaries and redefine them for themselves. “Change what can be changed and actively deal with what cannot be changed instead of avoiding it.”
ComTeam (Switzerland) is located in Winterthur. Why was this town chosen?
To put it in a nutshell: My wife and I live here. Apart from that, Winterthur offers a number of advantages. It is close to Zurich and the international airport, easy to be reached. Some of the seminars, particularly those for an international audience, will be held here (see “License to lead”). Beyond that: Winterthur is a charming town surrounded by parks and forests and offers a number of world-wide renowned art collections.
What is ComTeam (Switzerland)’s training offer and where will the seminars be held?
In 2007 / 2008 we offer the ComTeam leadership programs for young leaders as well as the one for experienced leaders. As mentioned above, with “License to lead” ComTeam offers an open seminar for an international audience for the first time. Most of our seminars will be held at the Lake Constance in one of these lovely, small castles.
Many thanks for the interview and good luck for ComTeam’s start in Switzerland!
