ComTeam Consultants Personally: Roberto Ramirez Schmidt

“To live a life characterized by varieties is important for me” Roberto says. “That means to get to know life in its fullness”. That is why he is looking for different things in his leisure time. In his work he often is in a leading function, that’s why he prefers to be one among others in his time outside the job. In leading seminars he is listening and is a partner in dialog because of his role there; in his private life he has to look for this dialog actively. He does not want to lose the broadness of reality, don’t want to life too much on one side. It is important for him to stay flexible, to learn new things and to re-discover old ones. In his professional role he supports people and shares his competence and experiences, outside the job he wants to experience himself how it is to learn in an ongoing way.

Roberto Ramirez Schmidt talks about the balance he needs for to be competent and successful in his work at ComTeam, which is to facilitate and support people in change processes.

Each year he is going on a motorcycle tour for 2 weeks with friends. This gives him the chance to experience himself in a completely different context. To sleep in a tent, to cook your food on a little cooker outside, to learn from Nature but also from the machine when he is repairing his Moto Guzzi in his garage. Many things are unfamiliar; often he has to ask in order to learn how things work. This experience shows him that new experiences and things to learn need questioning and the time to give it a try. That’s why there are no wrong questions, because they always have a subjectively important background. So when the participants in his seminars ask questions, they are really welcome with them.

To creatively test things and make experiences is an important motivator. This shows when he is cooking; here he is exploring new recipes all the time without a cookbook. “We can learn from our children here” he says, “because they just combine things together without any prejudices; just what tastes good is the criteria such as fish sticks and Nutella.” Also when creating seminars he is very open. It is important to combine new, fresh things with what is approved. So this means ” to mix things tried and tested.” But with regard to the customers there has to be a well-balanced relationship between security and challenges. With regard to cooking of course it is important that the new creative meals are really enjoyable.

Roberto wants to be part of many different aspects of life and reflect on himself continuously. For him the important question is, how he is dealing with these very different situations and how he can transfer the learning in other contexts. Here again his children are important teachers: He has to adapt to the ever changing age-dependent needs and situations and reflect his own way of acting and adjust it to the new situation.
